OnePlus is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer founded in the year 2013. The founders of OnePlus Pete Lau and Carl Pei both worked in another leading smartphone manufacturing company Oppo before starting their own company. Pete Lau who is the current CEO of OnePlus was the vice-president of Oppo. Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus worked as International Markets Manager of Oppo. Both of them decided to start their own company with a vision that they will produce high-end smartphones at a relatively lower price. They also decided that minimalistic design and user-friendly interface should define their smartphones. OnePlus gained excellent consumer response upon releasing their first premium gadget OnePlus One in June 2014. They offered the most competitive price for a premium smartphone at that time. It was as though a high-end smartphone is now available at a mid-range budget. The build quality of OnePlus One was excellent as well. After this, they never had to look back. The next few years they started to release two smartphones a year. All of their releases by far have been very successful in the international market. With the rising success, they soon became a trustworthy name in this highly competitive industry. In 2018, OnePlus became the second leading premium smartphone brand of India (first being Samsung) with a record amount of OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T sales. Samsung had a 34% premium phone market share whereas OnePlus had 33% market share. Apple in the 3rd position had 23% market share and the rest of the brands had only 10% together.
The first smartphone from this brand OnePlus One got a great amount of attention in the Bangladeshi market. The concept of this brand could highly impress the people of Bangladesh especially the young generation who were looking for a premium smartphone at a fairly low price. In 2021, OnePlus Nord series and OnePlus 8 series got fine response from the market. Especially the Nord 5G phones gained more popularity among Bangladeshi consumers. In 2022, OnePlus continued its release of the more affordable Nord series 5G smartphones with attractive and powerful specifications.
